What are deemed rates?

Deemed rates apply when you do not have an active contract with a supplier, for the energy supplied to your premises. This generally happens when you move into a new property and have not yet signed a contract.  You are 'deemed' to be supplied by the previous tenant's or owner's energy provider.

As the supplier needs to invoice you for the energy being used, you will be charged on a deemed rate until a signed contract is in place, or until you agree a contract with another supplier.

Deemed contract rates also apply to customers who are 'out of contract'. This happens if they have neither renewed contracts with their current supplier or moved to a new supplier.

Deemed rates can be higher than normal contract rates, so it's advisable to sign up to a contract as soon as you can. If you would like us to provide you with a no obligation quote, please call us on Freephone 0800 0568109.
