Well Planning Assurance
DONG E&P UK places a high importance on planning and execution of drilling operations.
All DONG well designs are planned from the conceptual stage of a Basis of Design, then evolving through the sequential cycle of a well planning process. DONG E&P UK have 5 clear stages of well planning, from the initial Business Planning and Feasibility Study stages through to the final Execution phase, synonymous with drilling of the well.
Prior to progressing through each stage, the well design is peer reviewed both by in-house and external bodies. This includes assessment via the UK Well Examination scheme, which reviews and assesses the well design against our own well design policies and procedures.
Ultimately, the final well design is presented and examined by the independent well examiner and Health and Safety Executive (HSE), prior to final sign off and acceptance of the well plan.
At this stage, final well programmes are drawn up, as well as holding a full scale Drill Well on Paper exercise and Pre-Spud meetings with all of the pertinent personnel who are to be involved with the drilling of the well.
