Laggan and Tormore
Our main development project in the West of Shetland area involves the Laggan and Tormore discoveries. These large gas fields both lie in 600 metres of water, some 125km north-west of the Shetland Islands.
The Laggan block was awarded to Total in the DTI’s 16th licensing round in 1995, almost ten years after the discovery well was drilled in 1986. The field has been fully appraised with the most recent wells drilled in 2004.
Building on Laggan as a core area in the West of Shetland, a successful exploration well was drilled on the Tormore prospect in 2007. Tormore is a new gas condensate discovery in block 205/5a, 16km south-west of the Laggan field.
Total, as operator, along with DONG Energy and Partners, are currently reviewing potential development concepts and various export options for the two fields, with a view to moving towards project sanction.
