Development
DONG Energy UK’s position in the West of Shetland is unique, with a direct interest in most discoveries yet to be developed, including Cambo, Laggan, Rosebank, Tobermory, Tormore and Torridon.
The development challenges in this region differ from other parts of the UK Continental Shelf. There is very little existing infrastructure and the environment is harsh with 1,000+ metre water depth, strong currents and high winds. A key challenge is to construct the optimum infrastructure of pipelines and terminals to maximise value and production.
To identify the best regional development solution for the area, we have, since the end of 2006, been coordinating the joint UK Government and industry West of Shetland Task Force.
At the asset level, our current focus is on bringing Laggan, Rosebank and Tormore through concept selection to project sanction. During the next few years we will actively seek to sanction all our discoveries, giving us plenty of challenging development activity for many years to come.
