With more than 20 years experience in the wind power industry, DONG Energy is a world leader in developing; constructing and operating offshore wind farms. We own wind turbines across Northern Europe and renewable energy accounts for more than 10% of our electricity generation capacity.

Some of the world’s largest offshore wind farms are operational in Denmark with DONG Energy involved in all stages of the developments.

Wind turbines harness the immense power of the wind – a resource that will never run out – to produce clean, green electricity with no waste products or environmentally damaging emissions.

Placing wind turbines offshore increases the environmental benefits as they can generate up to 25% more energy than their onshore counterparts. As a result, offshore wind power is a vital technology in the quest to reduce CO2 emissions.

The EU has set an ambitious target that 20% of the energy consumed in Europe should come from renewables by 2020. The UK share of this target, at 15%, implies a significant change in the way we generate and use energy in transportation, heat and electricity. 

The UK is Europe’s windiest country, estimated to have at least one third of the entire European Union wind resource. At DONG Energy we anticipate that our offshore wind projects in the UK will play a key role in achieving the Government and EU targets.
