DONG Energy has a strong exploration portfolio in the West of Shetland region. With an active role in 19 UK licences, we could be involved in up to 20 exploration/appraisal wells over the next five years. Our aim is to find and develop new resources for future production.

In 2007, we were involved in drilling four exploration/appraisal wells and, in the 24th UK licensing round, we were awarded interests in five new blocks, including a large operated acreage portfolio.

Our success in UK exploration is set to continue for a number of years. Our long-term strategy is to build a West of Shetland core production area, which will also include the Faeroe Islands. We expect this area to become a major part of DONG E&P’s overall portfolio.
