Offshore construction at the West of Duddon Sands is officially underway following the successful installation of the project’s offshore substation on site in the east Irish Sea.
Full capacity has now been reached at the 630MW first phase of the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the London Array. The commissioning of the 175th and final turbine happened at 16.09 on Saturday, 6 April.
The 75th Siemens 3.6MW turbine was installed today by specialist jack-up vessel MPI Resolution, completing the installation programme which began on 14 July 2012, and bringing the wind farm up to its full installed capacity of 270MW.
Belfast Harbour has handed over its new £50m offshore wind terminal to DONG Energy and ScottishPower Renewables. The terminal is the first purpose-built offshore wind installation and pre-assembly harbour in the UK or Ireland.
DONG Energy has announced that it will build the Westermost Rough offshore wind farm off the Holderness coast.
