DONG Energy UK
DONG Energy has been operating in the UK since 2001, when we were awarded three oil and gas exploration licences. As our UK business continues to develop, we expect our London-based team to expand over the next few years.
There are two distinct strands to our activities in the UK – exploration and production (E&P) and offshore wind farms.
DONG E&P UK
The focus of our Exploration and Production (E&P) business in the UK is the West of Shetland region where we have an interest in the six largest discoveries to be made in recent years. We plan to strengthen our position in the region by continuing to drill exploration wells and creating opportunities to bring discoveries on stream as quickly as possible. As part of this, we are coordinating the joint industry and UK Government West of Shetland Task Force to identify a regional, collective solution to bring gas to market.

DONG Wind UK
With more than 20 years experience in the wind power industry, DONG Energy is one of the leading offshore wind farm developers in the UK. We have two 90 MegaWatt (MW) wind farms in operation at Barrow in the East Irish Sea, of which we own 50%, and Burbo Bank in Liverpool Bay, of which we own 100%. Our next projects are at Gunfleet Sands in the Thames Estuary where we will have a generating capacity of 172 MW, and Walney Island where we will have a generating capacity of 151 MW. We also have full or part ownership of five more UK projects at various stages of development.
